Hearts of Oak have emphatically denied signing ex-Inter Milan and Portsmouth star Sulley Muntari.

There were reports the former Ghana international has agreed a two-year deal with the Phobians to revive his career.

A statement read: ''@HeartsOfOakGH wants to notify the general sporting public that we have not signed Ghana International Sulley Muntari as it's being reported by the media. Sulley is a great player and a friend of the club. We will continue to unveil the players we have signed.

''@HeartsOfOakGH is the Premier club in Ghana and will continue to set the standards, we therefore edge our supporters not to rely on information unless it comes from our official handles.''

Muntari had previously trained with the club and before the suspension of the Ghana Premier League, he watched some of their matches.

This gave credence to the news that 2010 UEFA Champions League winner had joined the Phobians.
