OFFICIAL - Michel BASTOS announces quitting: "My life's like a Netflix show"

Published on: 09 October 2019

Turning 36 last August 2, former Brazilian international left-back Michel Bastos announced having quit playing professional football. Here's the statement he released through social media: "I can't really explain what football means to me, but it's time for me to say farewell. When I looked at my father playing, I dreamt I'd have got to become like him, but, thanks God, I managed to go much beyond what I expected. A chapter of my life is closing today, but other thrilling and joyful stuff is ahead of me. It's like watching a Netflix show: when it's good, you go through all the seasons, and that's what I'm trying to do, relying on the love I get from the people at my side". Bastos used to play for Pelotas, Excelsior Rotterdam, Feyenoord, Atletico Paranaense, Figueirense, Gremio, Lille, Olympique Lyon, Schalke 04, Al-Ain, AS Roma, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Sport Recife, America-MG.
