After having fired René Girard, Nantes announced having signed Portuguese 42-year old Sergio Conceição as their new manager, on a deal lasting until June 2018. Conceição, previously training Vitoria Guimaraes and Sporting Braga, collected significant experiences as a footballer, between the 90's and the 2000's, making a difference especially playing for Porto, Lazio, and Standard Liège (as well as for Portuguese national team).
