Ghanaian defender Ofosu Appiah is gunning for the Most Outstanding Player award at his South African club Jomo Cosmos.

The former Asante Kotoko central defender has been one of the few bright spots for Cosmos this season in their fight to escape relegation.

Appiah's presence in Jomo Sono's backline has most of the times saved the club from humiliating defeats.

He will however have to fend off competition from eight others to win the gong which is being voted for by the fans on the club's website.

The 22-year-old joined Cosmos after passing a medical in August 2011 and is already stirring interests from other PSL clubs.
