General Manager of Great Olympics, Oloboi Commodore has responded to questions over the surprise appointment of Yaw Preko as head coach of the club.

On Tuesday, the Dade Boys announced the appointment of former Black Stars and Hearts of Oak winger as the club's new gaffer, relieving Annor Walker of his position.

Coach Walker had been missing from the side’s training for several weeks due to health reasons.

The experienced trainer missed the team’s last two matches which coincided with their slump in form.

In an interview with Accra-based Happy FM, Oloboi Commodore delved into what prompted their decision to hire Yaw Preko as a replacement for the beleaguered Annor Walker.

“He is recovering fast but we can’t ask him to come and resume training immediately so we want to give him time to recover fully,” Commodore expatiated on Happy FM.

“His wife doesn’t want him to even talk about football again because she believes football is giving him too much pressure.”

“We noticed that if we don’t get a good coach, our performance will continue to be poor and we know Yaw Preko will help us that’s why we went for him.”

“Our assistant coach also got a slight stroke weeks back but he came back.”

“He was at the bench for us for some games but he has requested for sometime to recover and we agreed.”

“We will give Yaw Preko the same help that we were giving coach Walker as he takes up the new challenge,” he deduced.

Great Olympics currently sit 7th on the league standings with 11 points after 8 matches.
