1929: Bologna won the last pre-round robin championship
On 7 July 1929, the era of the multi-round Serie A came to an end with the play-off for the title between Bologna and Torino. The match was played in Rome and was won by the Emilians 1-0. The third match between Rossoblu and Granata became necessary after the home victories, in the first leg and return match, 3-1 for Bologna and 1-0 for Torino.
