Only three trains to run between Liverpool and London on FA Cup day!!

Published on: 17 April 2012

Liverpool fans are facing a travel crisis for the upcoming FA Cup final with news that only three trains will run from the city to London on the day of the decider.

Virgin Trains are having scheduled engineering work on May 5, forcing them to cancel all but three trains from Liverpool Lime St to Euston, all of which run before 8:00am GMT.

The Liverpool v Chelsea match is to kick off at 5:15pm, meaning that there will be no return trains after the match, which is expected to be a massive inconvenience for Reds supporters.

But Liverpool fans will have ways of getting to Wembley with the ‘Spirit of Shankly’ supporters group set to again run coaches as they did for Saturday’s semi-final against Everton.

"Once again, it's an inconvenience for Liverpool fans,” said Roy Bentham from the Spirit of Shankly travel office.

"It was the same with the early kick-off in the semi-final, football fans are being put out again.

"There seems to be a lack of communication and consultation between the authorities and the fans.

"We ran six coaches to Wembley on Saturday and we are hoping to do the same for next month's final.

"We will try and accommodate as many fans as we can, and will look to increase the amount of coaches if needs be."
