Only two local players; Daniel Agyei and Ernest Sowah managed to make Ghana’s final 23-man squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The two, both goalkeepers have been part and parcel of the Black Stars setup in recent times.

Agyei, the most experience of the two with the national team plays for Liberty Professionals and was integral in the nation’s feat at the World Youth Championships in 2009 and the All Africa Games in 2011.

He is expected to be Ghana’s second choice goalkeeper to Stromgodset shot-stopper Adam Kwarsey at the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Sowah on the other hand plays for defending Ghana league champions Berekum Chelsea and is yet to earn his first senior cap for the Black Stars.

Ghana is drawn in Group D which is based in Franceville alongside Botswana, Mali and Guinea and will be looking to end a 30-year wait for an African crown by the time the tournament commences on January 21.
