Ghanaian coach Isaac Opeele Boateng has praised President John Mahama for his role in the Black Stars’ victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

According to Opeele, Mahama’s leadership and personal engagement with the team before the Chad match were crucial in motivating the players.

“The president’s visit and bonding with the team lifted their morale and inspired them to give their best for the nation,” the former Asante Kotoko coach stated.

Opeele further hinted at writing an article about Mahama’s impact when Ghana secures World Cup qualification.

“How President Mahama's masterful leadership turned Black Stars around. Will be my article, when Black Stars finally qualify for the World Cup,” he wrote on X.

The Black Stars dominated Chad 5-0 on March 21, 2025, and followed up with a convincing 3-0 win over Madagascar on March 25, 2025.

Ghana now leads Group I with 15 points, ahead of Comoros (12 points) and Madagascar (10 points), as the race for World Cup qualification intensifies.
