Ghana midfielder Opoku Agyemang played his first competitive match in eight months for Qatari side Al Sadd in a  Super League match defeat to Algharaf on Saturday.

He replaced Brazilian Leandro Da Silva and had 20 minutes of game time in their 1-0 loss at the Sani Ben Jassiem stadium.

The 20-year-old was sidelined after tearing anterior cruciate ligaments in February which ruled him out of the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals.

"It’s been a long and at time painful eight months so it’s a huge relief to have been able to play again. Now I hope I can build on that over the next few weeks and work my way to the very highest level again," Agyemang told Kickoffghana.com

Agyemang was a key player in the Ghana team that lost in the final of this year's Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

He was also a member of the Ghana Under-20 team which won the 2009 Fifa World Cup in Egypt.
