Opting not to fix matches caused my Ghana FA Ex.Co election defeat - Kudjoe Fianoo

AshantiGold Chief Executive Kudjo Fianoo has made an astonishing claim that his decision not to play fixed matches in the just-ended Ghana Premier League caused his defeat in yesterday's Ghana FA Executive Committee elections.

Fianoo shockingly ended with paltry five votes in the poll by Premier League clubs.

The astute administrator, who is a strong ally of Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi, was tipped to be among those to sweet through the votes to retain his seat.

However, the Black Stars management committee deputy chairman was swept by new entrants Albert Commey, Samuel Opoku Nti, Frank Nelson, George Afriyie, Delali Eric Senaye and Nab Benjamin Eyison.

Fianoo implies he was punished by some delegates who refused to vote for him because he kicked against compromising matches in the just ended Ghana Premier League.

“I did not win the FA election because I did not play a fix match,” he told Obuasi-based radio station Shaft FM.

“If that is the case then am happy for being punished for doing the right thing.”

Fianoo did not reveal which matches or which officials approached him to compromise matches.
