Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah insists ex-Juventus teammate Antonio Conte 'has always been a disciplinarian', adding he is not surprised by the Italian's achievements in coaching.

Appiah and Conte played together between 2003 to 2005 before the Ghanaian left for Turkey to join Fenerbache.

The 39-year old spent a lot of time with the former Chelsea manager as a roommate when the team travels for away games, and reveals Conte was strict on and off the pitch.

“I played together with Antonio Conte, I was in the same room with him anytime we traveled, they always paired me with him in the same room so he was my roommate all the time,” he told GTV.

“We were very close, he was my senior because I went to meet him at Juventus and he was one of the senior players there together with the likes of Del Piero and Nedved, they were seniors.

“Conte has always being a disciplinarian, he was always serious on and off the pitch and he doesn’t take chances.

“At training he was always serious and that is one thing I learnt from him. He is a great person and am not surprised he is one of the best Coaches in the World now.”
