Ghana coach Otto Addo has tipped Medeama SC and FC Samartex to be strong contenders for the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.
Addo’s assessment comes after watching Medeama’s narrow 1-0 victory over Legon Cities in match week two at the Legon Stadium.
The former Ghana international had also witnessed Samartex, the reigning league champions, secure a win over Nsoatreman in the 2024 Ghana Super Cup at the newly renovated TNA Stadium. On that same occasion, he saw Medeama fall to Basake Holy Stars on penalties in the Apinto Cup.
"From what I saw from Medeama and also Samartex, they are doing well,” Addo told the media after the Medeama and Legon Cities game.
“So maybe it's among these two, but I haven't seen all the matches, so I'm eager also to watch Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, and all the good teams, and then we'll see. But at the moment, I can't make any statement about who will win the league.”
Addo also expressed his intention to attend more Ghana Premier League games this season, focusing on scouting home-based talents.
Medeama were the league champions until last season when Samartex claimed the title, further solidifying the Western Region’s dominance in Ghanaian football.
