Black Stars general manager Ameenu Shardow has expressed strong confidence in head coach Otto Addo, stating that Ghanaians will come to value his leadership in the years ahead.
His remarks follow Ghana’s impressive turnaround in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where the national team secured emphatic victories over Chad and Madagascar in March.
Those results ended a troubling six-match winless streak across competitions, including failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Addo had been under growing pressure due to the poor run of form, with widespread calls for his dismissal.
However, the Ghana Football Association opted to back him and bolstered the technical team instead.
“I know that, with the passage of time, all of us will come to appreciate [Otto Addo’s hard work],” Shardow said in an interview aired on Asempa FM.
“All of usâeven though we were on edgeâdid a good job by keeping him, because he will be a blessing to us for many years to come.”
He added that Addo’s character and approach to coaching point to a promising future.
“He’s young, he’s driven, very passionate, and he’s willing to learn. He’s willing to listen to alternative perspectives.”
Ghana now tops Group I, three points ahead of Comoros, with four matches left in the qualifying campaign.
