Ghana defender John Paintsil has cautioned his international team mates to guard against complacency after Sunday's barren draw with Sudan in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Fulham ace wants the Black Stars to learn the downward spirals of Senegal, Cameroon and Nigeria after excelling at previous World Cup finals.

Questions have been raised about the team's ability to maintain its recent impressive display at the World Cup finals after the stalemate with Sudan.

"We want to reign for long but I have been telling my colleagues that they should remember that Senegal were fantastic during the World Cup-they reached the quarter-final-but all of a sudden the collapsed and no one knows the country anymore in football," Painstil told Joy FM.

"We don't have to get swollen headed because when a player reach a certain level, he feels uncontrollable and jokes with his training."

Ghana's next assignment will be in November in an international friendly against a yet-to-be named opponent.
