Palermo fans in furious protest against club president

Angry fans of Palermo are demonstrating at the club’s training ground in protest against club president Maurizio Zamparini.

Police are in attendance at Boccadifalco as around 50 Rosanero supporters stage their rally at the training facility, with reports claiming smoke bombs and chants are two of the methods being used to get their point across.

The supporters hold Zamparini responsible for the club’s poor performances this season, in an awful campaign that sees them sit just a point above the relegation zone.

Eccentric 74-year-old businessman Zamparini has an infamous reputation in Serie A for hiring and firing head coaches without a second thought, with Beppe Iachini leaving the club for the third time already this season.

Davide Ballardini has also been in the Sicilian hotseat twice this term, having had his contract cancelled but swiftly brought back to the club as circumstances changed.

Palermo protesters may have to wait to get their wish, as last month the president hinted at a summer departure.
