Ghana defender John Pantsil played his first match for his English club Fulham on Saturday following the World Cup.

The right back played for 60 minutes before he was substituted in Saturday's 1-0 friendly loss at relegated Portsmouth.

Pantsil was among several World Cup players who rejoined the Cottagers for the game on Saturday.

The World Cup group at Fulham included goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer of Australia and defender Clint Dempsey of the United States.

American forward Eddie Johnson, dropped when the U.S. pared its World Cup roster from 30 to 23, replaced Fulham's Zoltan Gera at the start of the second half.

Marc Wilson scored in the 31st minute.

Mark Hughes, who replaced Roy Hodgson as Fulham's manager this week, watched from the directors' box.
