Black Stars

Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey and Kazhastan-based striker Patrick Twumasi are among three players handed their debut call-ups to face Mauritius for their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Black Stars coach Avram Grant also handed AshantiGold defender Kadri Mohammed his first call-up for the national team in the 23-man sqiad for the away match.

Captain Asamoah Gyan was excluded from the squad because of the injury he sustained while playing for his Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.

Deputy captain Andre Ayew returns to the squad after missing the previous match against Mozambique through injury and he will lead the team in the absence of Gyan.

Fatau Dauda is also a returnee after being dropped from the squad in the last game after Adam Kwarasey was recalled to the squad.

He will be helped in the department by first choice Razak Brimah and Richard Ofori.

All the key defenders Baba Rahman, Harrison Afful, Jeff Schlupp, John Boye and Jonathan Mensah are all part of the squad.

Mubarak Wakaso, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Afriyie Acquah and Christian Atsu are all part of the squad with Partey seeking to fight for a place in the squad.

Jordan Ayew will partner his brother Andre in attack in the absence of Gyan as the Black Stars seek the win over Mauritius to clinch a place at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Thank you ghanasoccernet for this opportunity. RICHARD OFORI !!!! THE GOALKEEPERS POSITION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT . If Konadu thinks Ofori with his mistakes in Japan that cost us to lose by 3 goals a game we could have drawn is among our best goalkeepers then I have serious doubts about his coaching ability. I await the day an inexperienced Ofori will get the chance to play, and Ghana lose heavily and see the senior players turn on him and ask for his removal. Ofori was too forward for Japan's first goal. No need to rush all the way out for the second goal. The third was obvious.

I have watched the Japan video again. Maybe I was too hard on Ofori. The defenders didn't really help much with the goals.

This is a respectable squad. However, the issue here is that if Jordan and Dede are the forwards now we have really think about the right wing and left wing. I think Schlup has earned the left wing at this time. On the right wing it is a competition between Atsu, Acheampong, Tetteh and Partey. In the middle, I think Wakaso is a definite but is the other center mid going to be Afriyie, Badu or Duncan? I feel like Twumasi is a token pick. I would have preferred to see Kwadwo Poku from MLS or even C.J. Sapong from MLS. It is going to be interesting. We will see what the coach does.

I think it's a great team but what I dislike is that , Jordan has to be dropped because we have good strikers in Europe that the coach has to call them buh he doesn't, where is Kwasi Appiah? Where is Adomah Albert ? Go to the USA, we have good strikers. . Please this is the time for us to strengthened our squad ...THANKS for the Opportunity.
