Asante Kotoko board chairman Paul Adu Gyamfi admits his administration failed to live up to the task handed it by club owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The current board is expected to be dissolved by the end of the week to pave way for the appointment of ex Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour as the new Executive chairman of the club.

The Kotoko board were tasked by Otumfuo to deliver the CAF Champions League.

This task was handed the team when they presented the Premier League and FA Cup double to the revered Ashanti King at the end of the 2013/14 season.

But following season however turned disastrous for the side as Kotoko lost both titles and struggled to retain their Premier League status having crashed out of Africa at the preliminary stage.

This is widely believed to be the reason why the club owner is making sweeping changes to the club’s administration.

And board chairman Paul Adu Gyamfi admits perhaps the board deserves the sack.

“Otumfuo himself appointed the board and gave us a mandate,” he said.

“After winning two cups in one season Otumfuo tasked us to capture Africa for him.

“Our entry to Africa this time was disastrous I must admit.”

Ex Bayern Munich star Samuel Osei Kuffour is expected to be officially announced as the new club’s Executive Chairman by the end of the week.
