Performance of Ghanaian players abroad wrap up: Odoi, Basit, Bashiru grab silverware as Twum suffers another injury blow

European football expert, Reuben Obodai brings you a comprehensive update on how Ghanaian players performed in abroad this weekend.

The top leagues in abroad have ended but there are some leagues which started not too long ago hence we will continue to serve our readers with the needed information from those leagues.

Denis Odoi has been instrumental in Fulham FC in their quest to win promotion to the English Premier League. The versatile defender was red carded in the playoffs final against Aston Villa but had the last laugh. Better luck next time to Albert Adomah whose contribution to the Villains was remarkable.

Patrick Twumasi kept up his scintillating scoring form for Astana FC as he bagged his seventh league goal of the campaign.

The Painstil brothers also continue to do their things in Hungary and Finland ass both of them grabbed a brace in their respective leagues.

ENGLAND

Denis Odoi received his marching orders for Fulham FC as they pipped Aston Villa 1-0 in the English Championship play-offs final. Albert Adomah lasted entire duration for the Villains.

ITALY

Ransford Selasi warmed the bench for Lecce in their 1-0 home loss against Padova.

 AUSTRIA

 Majeed Ashimeru lasted full period of action for AC Wolfsberger in their goalless draw with Rapid Vienna.

David Atanga was not included in St Polten squad that recorded a 2-0 win at Admira Wacker.

Kadiri Mohammed lasted 78 minutes for Austria Vienna in their 4-0 win over champions Red Bull Salzburg.

Samuel Tetteh played 90 minutes for LASK Linz in their 2-1 loss at SV Mattersberg.

Samuel Sarpong was left out of BW Linz squad that played 2-2 draw with Wattens.

Gideon Mensah lasted 59 minutes for FC Leifering in their 1-1 stalemate with Neudstadt. Felix Adjei missed the game for Neudstadt through injury.

Kingsley Boateng played full throttle for Reid as they thump Kapfenberg 7-1 at home.

BELGIUM

Joseph Aidoo was a stalwart for KRC Genk in their 2-0 win over Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Europa League playoffs.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Benjamin Tetteh lasted 69 minutes for Bohemians 1905 in their goalless draw with Sparta Prague.

DENMARK

Emmanuel Oti lasted 88 minutes for Ebsjerg in their 3-0 win over Silkeborg in the Danish relegation playoffs. Ibrahim Moro was not included in the loser's squad.

FINLAND

Anthony Annan picked a booking but lasted 90 minutes for HJK Helsinki in their 3-2 win over Honka. Evans Mensah made a cameo appearance for the victors.

Reuben Ayarna enjoyed full throttle for SJK in their 1-1 draw with Mariehamm.

Seth Paintsil netted a brace for FF Jaro in their 5-0 over AC Kajaani.

HUNGARY

Joseph Paintsil followed in the footsteps of his brother Seth, who bagged a brace for FF Jaro in the Finnish second-tier league, as he also repeated the feat for Ferencvarosi in their 4-0 win over DVTK.

KAZAKHSTAN

Patrick Twumasi scored his seventh league goal for Astana FC in their 3-0 win over Zhetysu Taldykorgan. David Mawutor lasted 90 minutes for the loser’s.

 Gideon Baah was again missing for Kairat Almaty as they defeated Atyrau 3-1.

KOSOVO

Abdul Basit netted for FK Prishtina as they defeated Vellaznimi 2-1 on penalties to clinch the Kosovo Cup. Abdul Bashiru and Jamal Arago played key roles in the side's victory.

LATVIA

Michael Ofosu Appiah made a cameo appearance for RFS in their 2-0 win at Jelgava.

Rashid Obuobi picked a booking but played full minutes for Ventspils in their 4-1 win at FK Leipaja.

NORWAY

Adam Kwarasey kept a clean sheet for Valeranga in their 1-0 win over Lillestrom.

Isaac Twum suffered an injury and was taken off in the 18th minute for IK Start in their 3-1 loss at Molde.

Dennis Agyare Antwi played full throttle for Asane in their goalless draw at Notodden,

SWEDEN

Patrick Kpozo and Frank Arhin warmed the bench for Ostersunds FK in their 2-0 win over Hacken BK. Mohammed Nasiru played full minutes for the losers but Samuel Mensah was left out of the victor’s squad.

Enoch Adu Kofi enjoyed full minutes for AIK Stockholm in their 3-3 draw with Norrkoping.

Halik Hudu was an unused substitute for Hammarby in their 1-1 draw at Kalmar. Gershon Koffie was left out of Hammarby squad.

Thomas Boakye was magnificent for Halmstad in their 3-0 win over Osters.

SLOVENIA

Issah Abass lasted 64 minutes for NK Olimpiija Ljubljana in their 1-1 draw at Domzale. Mitch Apau also played 77 minutes for Ljubljana.

Ibrahim Arafat Mensah and Derrick Mensah were left out of NK Aluminij in their 2-1 loss at Ankaran Hrvatini.

SWITZERLAND

Kassim Nuhu picked a booking but lasted 90 minutes for Young Boys as they lost the Swiss Cup final after losing 2-1 to FC Zurich. Raphael Dwamena was not included in the victor’s squad.

USA

Ebenezer Ofori played full throttle for New York City FC in their 3-1 loss at Houston Dynamo.

Charles Sapong missed a penalty for Philadelphia Union in their goalless draw at New York Red Bulls. David Accam made a cameo appearance for the Union.

Defender Johan Kappelhof picked a booking but lasted the entire duration for Chicago Fire in their 2-1 win at Orlando City.

Abu Danladi made a cameo appearance for Minnesota United in their 2-0 win over Montreal Impact. Dominic Oduro was left out of the loser’s squad.

Harrison Afful picked a booking but completed 90 minutes for Columbus Crew in their goalless draw at Sporting Kansas City. Lalas Abubakar also played well for the Crew but there was no Jonathan Mensah and Abu Mohammed in the squad.

Bismark Adjei-Boateng lasted 66 minutes for Colorado Rapids in their 3-2 home loss to Portland Timbers.

Latif Blessing was taken off at half time for Los Angeles in their 1-1 draw with DC United. Kofi Opare was an unused substitute for DC but Chris Odoi-Atsem missed the game through injury.

In the USL, Solomon Asante was again superb for Phoenix Rising during their 1-0 loss at Swope Rangers. Gladson Awako made a cameo appearance for the loser’s.

Ropapa Mensah lasted 66 minutes for Nashville SC in their 1-1 draw at Charleston.

Frederick Opoku was taken off in the 91st minute for Penn FC in their goalless draw at Pittsburgh. Prince Baffoe and Shaibu Haruna warmed the bench for Penn FC.

Emmanuel Twumasi was introduced in the 59th minute for Oklahoma City Energy in their 1-1 draw at Tulsa Roughnecks. Kalif Alhassan who completed a deal to OKC Energy on Thursday, warmed the bench for the side.

Emmanuel Appiah played full period of action for LA Galaxy 2 in their 7-2 win over Las Vegas Lights. Geoffery Acheampong warmed the bench for the victor’s.
