Few Ghanaian players were in action for their clubs on the opening weekend of the Norwegian and Ukrainian Leagues. 

Others were also involved in pre-season friendlies. Below is a lowdown.

SWEDEN

Allsvenskan top scorer Abdul Majeed Waris set up the first goal for BK Hacken who won 2-1 at bottom-placed Orebro.

Zakariah Abdullai played the last six minutes for Gefle IF who held IFK Goteborg to a 1-1 draw.

Compatriot Joachim Adukor failed to make the first team squad.

Defender Edward Owusu watched from the bench as his AIK Stockholm side lost 2-0 at Ã…tvidaberg.

Joseph Baffo warmed the bench for Helsingborg who pipped Syrianska FC 1-0.

NORWAY

Former Ghana U17 captain Paul Addo sat on the bench during his Odd Grenland side's 6-2 drubbing at Brann.

King Osei Gyan lasted 88 minutes for Viking who beat Honefoss 2-1.

In the second-tier league, Ernest Asante played 81 minutes for IK Start who widened their lead at the top of the table after beating Alta 4-0.

UKRAINE

Striker Dominic Adiyiah played the last 21 minutes for Arsenal Kiev who suffered a 6-0 humiliation at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Compatriot Abeiku Quansah sat out due to injury.

Midfielder Derek Boateng was influential in FC Dnipro's 4-1 win over Tavriya 4-1. Defender Samuel Inkoom warmed the bench.

Defender Daniel Addo was not involved in action for Zorya FC who won 2-0 over Metalurh.

FRIENDLY

Christian Atsu was key to FC Porto's 1-0 triumph over Evian Thonon on Saturday.

Andre Ayew played for 60 minutes as Olympique Marseille lost 2-0 to Benfica.
