Perisic: Inter did well to take their chances

Inter winger Ivan Perisic was pleased with his side’s ability to make the most of what went their way during a narrow 1-0 win away at Empoli.

Some have criticised the Nerazzurri for playing unattractive football and relying on one-goal wins but the Croatian insisted that winning is all that really matters as they hope to remain consistent.

“The three points were the positive thing, they [Empoli] looked like a good team in the first half while we weren’t brilliant and could have done better,” said Perisic to Inter Channel.

“We didn’t have many chances today but we did well to make the most of them.

“I made a good move on the wing and delivered a good cross and fortunately we scored from it. I always tell Mauro [Icardi] to get to the near post because that’s where the ball is going.”

The 26-year-old was happy with the win as it sent the right signals that the team would bounce back following a home defeat before Christmas.

“We lost our last game against Lazio so the most important thing was to win,” Perisic added.

“The result keeps us top and now we need to keep winning.”
