Phil Foden and his team APPROVED his social media post calling out Kylian Mbappe

Phil Foden and his team approved of the social media post that challenged Kylian Mbappe, claim the company that formerly managed the Manchester City star's online accounts following the Twitter clanger this week.

Foden, 20, was reportedly left furious following City's Champions League quarter final win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night  after a tweet from his account asked PSG star Mbappe 'are you ready?' ahead of their semi final clash.

The youngster was not impressed with the post, one that was not deemed to reflect his personality, and the decision was taken on Thursday to part ways with Ten Toes Media.

However, the London-based company have responded to Foden's decision to sever ties, claiming that they adopt a policy 'which requires all posts to be approved in advance by the talent/representative'.

'We are saddened with the current situation', a statement published on Friday read.

'Since the company was founded we have adopted a process which requires all posts to be approved in advance by the talent/representative - no exceptions.

'They always have been approved - that has been true for 4 years and is still true today.

'Phil Foden is a special person and football and we wish him the very best going forward.'

Foden has almost 500,000 followers on Twitter and has worked with Ten Toes Media for much of his short career.

The company list Harry Kane, Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Victor Lindelof as clients.

Their website describes how they ‘put in place rigorous plans for each client and expertly execute them via social media posting, on-strategy PR and the best media collaborations’.

The tweet sent on behalf of Foden did not strike the right tone, however, and was subsequently deleted before midnight after City’s progression to the Champions League semi-final.

Foden feared it was seen as throwing down the gauntlet to Mbappe, whom he faces in the French capital for the first leg on April 28.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has urged football stars to run their own social media accounts, warning that 'independent thought and authenticity is at stake'.

'I mentioned on here a few weeks ago about players having their accounts run by social media companies. Lads run your own accounts!' he wrote on Twitter.

'Your independent thought and authenticity is at stake. It’s your voice, not anyone else’s. Morning by the way. Go and attack the hell out of.'
