Hearts goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy said Kotoko are still favourites for the Premier League, despite closing the gap on their arch-rivals.

The Accra side managed a narrow 2-1 win over struggling Ashantigold at home on Wednesday to close the point difference to eight after Kotoko slipped at home.

The Porcupine Warriors were shell-shocked 1-0 at home to Heart of Lions to put some fear in their supporters ahead of the remaining games.

“It’s up to other teams to lose, so we will keep working hard,” McCarthy said

“We are not playing it down, If Kotoko win games, they win. It’s simple mathematics.

“We are second and are not going to say we are no in it because we’ll be lying.

“They are favourites but we want to keep winning and hope they continue to slip for us to take advantage.
