Black Stars departed Accra on Tuesday evening for Johannesburg where their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against South Africa will take place.

A contingent of more than 30 people including 26 players and head coach Charles Akonnor left the country for the crucial qualifier scheduled for Thursday.

The match will be played at the famous FNB stadium, also known as Soccer City - the same venue Black Stars suffered the 2010 World Cup quarter-final heartbreak against Uruguay.

After the South Africa match, the team will head back to Accra for their final qualifier against Group C whipping boys Sao Tome and Principe.

The Black Stars sit at the top of the group with 9 points after four games and are in search of a ticket to the 2022 tournament in Cameroon.
