Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has insisted he is 'really happy' that Robert Lewandowski has joined him at Barcelona and is not concerned about the added competition for his place.
Lewandowski signed from Bayern Munich last week for a fee that could total €50m, bringing an end to one of the most high profile transfer sagas of the summer.
Aubameyang has impressed for Barcelona since his February arrival from Arsenal and will be reunited with Lewandowski having played with the Polish striker at Borussia Dortmund.
When asked by ESPN how he reacted to news of Lewandowski joining him at Camp Nou, Aubameyang replied: "I was really excited because I know him well we played together at Dortmund and had some nice times over there.
"I was just happy and when this was official we are reunited and we had some fun words about the past, but I’m really happy because this is how Barcelona will compete, with great strikers and that’s what this club is all about.
"Obviously I think we have more experience, we can maybe do better than the past in Dortmund I am sure about that. Personally, I will try to give my best and I’m sure he will do it. We will hope we have better numbers than in the past."
Despite Lewandowski's arrival, Aubameyang is not worried about losing his place in the team and is confident they will both play enough games to satisfy their needs.
Xavi has discussed his plans to accommodate two top strikers in his squad, and Aubameyang has revealed that the head coach has started to elaborate on that.
"Yes, a little bit. He was talking to all of us that we have to compete this year to win titles. Of course when you talk about trophies we need a competitive team," he added. "That’s why we have a lot of strikers and midfielders and defenders. This is the way to achieve things this season."
