Pique: Barcelona were hoping to beat Atletico, but we're still alive in the title race

Gerard Pique has insisted that Barcelona won't give up in their pursuit of the title in LaLiga Santander after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone's side hold a two-point lead over Barcelona with just three games of the season left to go.

"We were hoping to win, but we're still alive," Pique said after the game.

"We had more chances, we competed.

"Seeing how this season has gone, we're still in it and I think we still have a chance of winning [the title].

"I think we'll have a chance if we win our last three games.

"Our plan is to win all our games and compete until the end.

"It's a shame because we've competed well over the last few months."

Real Madrid now have the title in their hands because of their superior head-to-head record over Atletico.

"Anything can happen, after what's gone on this season," Pique said.

"Yes, Real Madrid will be champions if they win their four games [but] the big clubs are struggling for consistency.

"It's a season with lower points totals. [Having] no crowds has evened everything out."
