Pique plans 45 percent salary cut to FC Andorra players

Published on: 01 April 2020

Gerard Pique has proposed a 45 percent salary cut to the players of FC Andorra due to the economic impact of the coronavirus.

The Barcelona central defender purchased the Segunda B club in 2018 but has now had to confront his employees with an uncomfortable measure.

"It is the only way to do something similar to the ERTE [temporary salary cut] that the rest of the Spanish teams are doing," FC Andorra president Ferran Vilaseca told El Mundo, who is negotiating the reductions with the players.

"We are very proud of the club's response.

"Everyone understands the extraordinary and dramatic situation we are experiencing."

Villaseca mentioned that Pique was engaged with the process.

"Gerard [Pique] is on top of the club.

"He understands the footballers and thanks them for the effort they are going to make."
