Potter seeks more from Seagulls

Published on: 11 August 2019

Graham Potter is confident that there is more to come from his Brighton side, who opened their Premier League campaign with a fine 3-0 win at Watford.

The Seagulls led at half-time through an own goal, before substitutes Florin Andone and Neal Maupay both found the net after the restart to make certain of a well-deserved victory.

Three goals away from home and a clean sheet, I can't complain too much, but I know we can improve.

That left head coach Potter delighted with his first game in charge of Albion, but also looking for more from his players in the coming weeks and months.

He told his club's official website: "I thought we showed courage to try and do what we wanted to do.

"When we needed to defend, we did, but our attacking play was good, although we missed the last pass and some opportunities.

"But overall, three goals away from home and a clean sheet, I can't complain too much, but I know we can improve.

"We'll start again on Monday to prepare for another tough match - we know that we can improve and that's what I've said to the guys. But, of course, it's a great win for us."

Next up for Albion is a visit from West Ham next Saturday, with the Hammers having been thumped 5-0 at home by Manchester City in their first game of the season.

Brighton are 8/5 to defeat the Irons, with the draw priced at 11/5 and a 1-1 final scoreline available at 11/2.
