Commenting upon latest Crystal Palace tie, against Newcastle, Eagles manager, Patrick Vieira, stated:
"The fact Benteke didn’t go to international level allowed him to stay and work physically so he’s in really good shape. For Christian to perform the way he did today you need to be 100% physically fit, feeling well.
We know that every ball inside the box can be a goal. [It wasn't] just the goal he scored, I think his play and the way he got the ball, the way he combined with other players around the field was really good today. It's difficult to ask more from my players, anyway. However, we could have been more cynical.
I think the way they [players] commit on the field, the way they work on the field, they give everything. I think the clinical side of the game we need to improve. We created enough chances to score more than one goal today and didn’t [score], so when you don’t score the second goal you’re giving hope to the opposition team.
We created enough chances to win the game. But all credit to Newcastle. I think they worked hard at the back and made it really difficult for us. We managed to create a couple of chances and didn’t take them. So we need to keep working because what we want is to win games.
The results are as important as the performance. Obviously I’m pleased with the performances we've had but I’m not satisfied yet because obviously we want to win football matches. We will keep working hard, we will keep improving because I think there’s more to come".
