PREMIER LEAGUE / Man United having second thoughts about Mourinho

Published on: 07 March 2016

José Mourinho's future remains a hot topic in the English media. Both The Sunday Times and the Sunday Mirror have reported that the Manchester United board are once more shrinking away from the idea of bringing in the Portuguese coach.

The reason given is that Mourinho, who was previously passed up as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor, has no track record of blooding and developing academy players in the first team, something that Louis van Gaal can boast despite his erratic results in charge.

The English media are now not ruling out Van Gaal seeing out his contract, which expires at the end of next season, before handing over to Ryan Giggs. Just when it seemed like United had made up their minds to appoint Mourinho, now they look to be backtracking. Will the Special One ever see his wish of managing the Red Devils fulfilled?
