Liverpool has expressed interest in signing Inter Milan's 24-year-old midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).
Barella joined Inter on a loan from Cagliari during the summer transfer window of 2019, before becoming a permanent Inter player in September 2020.
Overall, the midfielder, who is valued at £58.5 million by Transfermarkt, has made 97 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing an incredible 27 assists, which explains why Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing him.
Last season, Barella scored three goals and added seven assists in Serie A, indicating that he may be a more offensive version of Wijnaldum if he joins Liverpool. To put things in perspective, the latter scored two goals in 38 league appearances last season.
