Pressure mounts on Ghana FA to reveal Kingston-Rajevac clash details

Pressure is mounting on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to reveal the details of the clash between coach Milovan Rajevac and midfielder Laryea Kingston.

The GFA has been on the back foot since news of Kingston's alleged verbal attack on the coach broke out after the midfielder was axed from the final squad for the World Cup.

Even though GFA spokesman Randy Abbey has denied the story, he failed to divulge of the details of what transpired between the Serbian tactician and Kingston.

Several journalists and administrators in the country claim their sources within the camp have confirmed a confrontation with some insisting the Serbian was verbally abused.

Ace broadcaster Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says his high source in the Ghana World Cup camp in Paris confirmed an incident even though he won't reveal the details.

Former Ghana FA boss Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe believes something untoward happened and that the GFA must bring out the details to stop the mounting speculation.

"This case must be dealt with decisively and not be covered up by anybody so that any such future behaviour could be discouraged," Tamakloe told Graphic Sports.

All the major newspapers in the country covered the story on their frontpages on Monday with cartoons funnily depicting Rajevac escaping from a heavy punch.

The Ghana FA had warned dropped players against violent recriminations in a letter they signed last week, promising to be of good behaviour when they are left out.

But Kingston is accused of following in the footsteps of Baba Armando who accused officials of taking bribes from players before the final squad for the 2006 World Cup was named.

Armando has since not been invited and it looks likely that like Francis Dickoh, who verbally abused coach Claude Le Roy after he was left out of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations squad, Kingston will not be entertained in future assignments.
