Preview - Group A: Hilal Alquds Club v Nejmeh SC

Jeddah: Palestine's Hilal Alquds Club will look to close the gap on the top two spots of the 2019 AFC Cup Group A as they play hosts to Nejmeh SC of Lebanon in a rescheduled Matchday Three fixture at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Friday.

The Palestinian side have collected two points from their two encounters. This tally leaves them eight points adrift of the top spot occupied by Al Wehdat, but with two games in hand.

Hilal Alquds already got the opportunity to adapt to the ground in Western Saudi Arabia, having played out a goalless draw against Al Jaish on Tuesday at the same stadium.

Nejmeh, on the other side, are on a seven-match winless run that dates back to March 2017 when they defeated Oman’s Saham 2-1. The run includes three losses on the trot this season which have left the Lebanese team at the foot of the group.

The most recent encounter brought no news for Nejmeh, who failed to find the back of the net for the third game running and subsequently fell to a 2-0 defeat to Al Wehdat in Beirut.

A fourth defeat in the Friday encounter would all but confirm elimination for Moussa Hojeij’s men.
