Jeonju: Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors will aim to record successive defeats over Urawa Red Diamonds in Group G of the 2019 AFC Champions League when the sides face off at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Wednesday.
Brazilian striker Adriano scored the only goal of the game as the 2016 winners defeated the 2017 champions 1-0 a fortnight ago to move two points clear at the top of the standings.
Jeonbuk’s 3-0 victory over Sangju Sangmu on Saturday was the perfect response to exiting the Korean FA Cup a few days earlier as they assumed the familiar position of top of the K League 1 table.
After claiming four points from their opening two games, meanwhile, Urawa’s home defeat to Jeonbuk will now have them looking over their shoulders as both Beijing FC and Buriram United remain within striking distance of the Saitama side.
Victory would see them back in a strong position and two wins on the bounce – including a 1-0 win over Vissel Kobe at the weekend – will act as the perfect preparation for the game as they moved up to fifth in the J.League.
