Preview - Group H: Ulsan Hyundai FC (KOR) v Kawasaki Frontale (JPN)

Ulsan: Ulsan Hyundai will be targeting back-to-back home wins in Group H of the 2019 AFC Champions League when they host Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale at Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium on Wednesday.

Junior Negrao struck the only goal of the game when 2012 winners Ulsan defeated Shanghai SIPG 1-0 in Korea Republic on Matchday Two as they moved a point clear at the top of the standings.

Since their last appearance on the continent, Ulsan have won three and drawn one in K League 1, with Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Sangju Sangmu consolidating their position at the summit.

After an eight-game winless run in the AFC Champions League that stretched back to the first leg of the 2017 quarter-finals, Manabu Saito’s goal finally secured a victory for Kawasaki as they saw off Sydney FC 1-0 in mid-March.

The J.League champions have found wins hard to come by domestically and Friday’s 1-1 draw with Cerezo Osaka leaves them in 10th position after six games in their quest for a third successive title.

Ulsan and Kawasaki have met four times previously in the competition, with Ulsan winning both games in Korea Republic, including a 2-1 victory in last year’s group stage.
