Ghanaian youth midfielder Thomas Partey finally made his Spanish La Liga debut for Atletico Madrid after coming off the bench to play in their slim 1-0 win against Espanyol on Saturday.

The 22-year-old former Tema Youth midfielder climbed off the bench on the 57th minute mark to replace Argentine attacker Luciano Vietto and he anchored the midfield as Atletico protected their lead to end the game with a slim win.

French goal-poacher Antoine Griezmann raced the host into an early lead at the Vicente Calderon but they failed to add to their tally.

Partey, a former Ghana U20 triallist, was seated by Argentine gaffer Diego Simeone at the club following his impressive loan spell at Almeria last term.

But, he failed to make the grades for games, warming the bench just twice in the league.

However the Ghanaian is expected to compete for more playing time at the club after making his debut on Saturday.
