Promoting every game like Vision vs Hearts would change the Ghana Premier League – Annor Walker

Vision FC Technical Director Annor Walker believes that the Ghana Premier League's (GPL) fortunes could improve if all matches were promoted as effectively as his team's recent fixture against Hearts of Oak.

Before the game, the former Great Olympics boss claimed that his team would finish off the Phobians in 25 minutes, a comment that sparked a war of words ahead of the match.

After the game ended in a 1-1 draw and his prediction did not come to pass, he claimed that his pre-match comments were made for promotional purposes.

“Everyone who came to Tema to watch the game saw that the game was entertaining,” he told Asempa FM.

“If we promote all league games like we did for the Vision vs Hearts of Oak, the fortunes of the league would have been different.”

The match, which saw Hearts of Oak take the lead through Kelvin Osei Asibey before Vision FC equalized via Adjetey Sowah, attracted a notable crowd, contrasting with the generally low attendance figures plaguing the GPL.

Low stadium turnout has been a persistent issue in the GPL, attributed to factors such as economic hardship, inconsistent team performances, and inadequate marketing strategies.

Additionally, the league's struggle to attract sponsors has been linked to its perceived lack of appeal.
