An official protest has been lodged against Wassaman United for fielding an unqualified player.

The protest lodged at the Ghana FA on August 1 around 2pm also claims the newly promoted Premier League side wore unapproved strips for their opening playoff match against Tarkwa United.

The player in question, Isaac Mensah is said to have either accumulated too many yellow cards without serving the due punishment or was not properly registered.

"I can confirm the receipt of an official protest from Tarkwa United and the case has been quickly referred to the disciplinary committee," Division One League chairman, Ntow-Fianko confirmed to HotFM.

"The last round of matches of the playoffs would be put on hold until all the cases are well dealt with.

"We don't want the case where we'll be unable to produce a league table when the playoffs end so we are making sure we deal with all litigations before the last round of matches are cleared."

The DC according to Ntow-Fianko will sit on the case on Thursday, the same day Ordinary Congress of the Football Association is billed to start.

It will be recalled that Wassaman beat Tarkwa United 3-1 on the opening day of the playoffs.
