PSG interested in Vlahovic as replacement for Real Madrid target Mbappe

PSG have identified in-demand Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappé if the striker moves to Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappé will be free to negotiate with clubs outside of Ligue 1 in a month and a half amid rumours of an imminent deal involving Real Madrid. The France striker has proven reluctant to sign a new contract at PSG and seems set for a move next summer, leading the Parc des Princes to instigate a Plan B to cover for the loss of the prolific France international. The Ligue 1 giants are interested in Erling Haaland but will face fierce competition for the Dortmund forward while the names of Karim Adeyemi and Cristiano Ronaldo have also cropped up.

Now, according to reports in Italy, PSG have turned their attention to Fiorentina and Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic. The 21-year-old has been attracting interest from across the continent after banging in 21 goals in 40 games for La Viola last season and 10 in 13 so far in 2021-22. La Gazzetta reports that PSG are considering an approach for Vlahovic as an alternative to Haaland, who seems more likely to wind up in the Premier League due to his probable wage demands and his links to England. Manchester City and Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Vlahovic, who is also on the radar of Juventus.

Vlahovic won't come cheap as Juventus eye PSG's Icardi

Vlahovic is under contract at the Estadio Artemio Franchi until 2023 and is expected to set back any suitors somewhere in the region of €80 million, which is the price Fiorentina quoted last summer when the Serbian rejected a new contract offer. La Gazzetta believes that Juventus remain the favourites for his signature with the Old Lady also interested in PSG striker Mauro Icardi, who the Parisians will need to shift from the wage bill before they can bring in Vlahovic or another forward in the event that Mbappé departs.
