PSG vs RB Leipzig: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

Published on: 18 October 2021

PSG's quest for a maiden Champions League trophy continues on Tuesday night with a home game against Group A basement boys RB Leipzig.

The Parisians have taken four points from a possible six so far, drawing with Club Brugge in Belgium before taking down tournament favourites Manchester City at the Parc des Princes.

Domestically, results suggest PSG have in fine form - but there are still concerns over the style of play implemented by Mauricio Pochettino and whether or not he's able to encourage his big-name players to buy into his philosophy.

Leipzig are difficult opponents when they're on song, but they've been out of sorts under new manager Jesse Marsch - losing their two opening group games to Club Brugge and City, conceding eight in the process.

Here's 90min's preview of the game.

PSG team news

PSG will again be without marquee summer signing Sergio Ramos, who is yet to make an appearance for the club three months after joining from Real Madrid.

He's still struggling with a calf injury and will be assessed again by the club's medical team. Neymar and Leandro Paredes are out with injuries too, while Mauro Icardi will not be available after missing two training sessions due to family issues (which we're sure you've heard about).

Julian Draxler is also a doubt, and there are concerns over Layvin Kurzawa and goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Angel Di Maria is suspended.

RB Leipzig team news

Leipzig may be able to welcome back Dani Olmo in midfield, although the Spaniard's recovery from a thigh injury may limit him to appearing from the bench.

Brian Brobbey, Marcel Halstenberg and Marcelo Saracchi are all out injured, while Marsch must decide whether or not to recall prolific goalscorer Andre Silva up front in place of Yussuf Poulsen.

PSG (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes; Herrera, Verratti, Gueye; Messi, Mbappe, Rafinha.

PSG vs RB Leipzig score prediction

PSG and RB Leipzig actually met in the group stages of last season's Champions League too, sharing a victory apiece on home turf.

But the visitors were a completely different side under Julian Nagelsmann, and they don't seem to be able to find a way to tighten up at the back when the pressure is on.

That's a recipe for disaster against a PSG frontline that should boast Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe after international duty, and the duo may fancy their chances of tearing to shreds against a side who lie eighth in the Bundesliga.

That said, PSG have been lethargic of late - though much of that can be attributed to heavy rotation and a lack of cohesion among the players. Home win.

Prediction: PSG 3-1 RB Leipzig
