Pure Joy owner rubbishes Smart FC claims on Uriah Asante

Owner of Pure Joy Isaac Tetteh has dismissed claims by Smart FC that they are due 25% share of the onward transfer fee of Uriah Asante.

The Accra-based lower division side claimed on Friday that they are entitled to 25% share of the transfer fee of the highly-rated midfielder who joined Tunisian giants Etoile Du Sahel two weeks ago on a reported three-year deal.

Their Chief Executive Frederick Quainoo insists there is a binding clause in the conract which allows Pure Joy to pay them their share of the money accrued from the sale of the player who joined them from Smart FC in 2009.

But the bankroller of Pure Joy is livid with the claims and has threatened to drag the club to court to clear his name.

“First of all it is not true that we’re are suppose to pay them 25% share of a potential transfer of the player,” Tetteh told Accra-based Peace FM

“Even if they think they have a case they should have been patient and followed due process,"

"In any case who told them the money involved is $600,000? They will have to come to court to provide evidence to that effect,"

“We are talking about somebody's reputation here. The reportage on Ghanasoccernet has  badly bruised our image and I intend taken the matter to court to clear my name,”

“It is not proper at all and I will do whatever it is necessary to let the whole world know that the claims are baseless and untrue.”

“We are talking about the rules of football and so I will not let the matter rest.”

Smart FC have since petitioned the Ghana Football Association over the matter.
