Having secured a vital 2-0 home victory over fellow relegation candidates Frosinone, Fabio Quagliarella has encouraged his Sampdoria teammates to use this win as motivation in their bid to avoid Serie A relegation.
The Ligurian outfit now occupy 16th place in the domestic league standings following the win, and the Italian goalscorer has claimed the hosts deserved to beat the Canarini, although insisted that the Blucerchiati must not rest on their laurels.
“This was an extremely important victory,” said Quagliarella to Sky Sport Italia. “We deserved to win and gave everything during the match.
“The fans deserved it as well, along with us and the hierarchy. This is a small step to reach our objective at the end of the season.
“However we know that we cannot relax and we must use this as a means of progressing during the final stages of the season.
