Racing Club d'Abidjan crowned champions of Ivory Coast Ligue 1 as 2019/2020 season is terminated

Racing Club d'Abidjan have been crowned champions of the Ivory Coast Ligue 1 after the Football Federation decided to close the 2019/2020 season.

Racing Club were leading the league standings with a three-point margin after 20 rounds, remaining six more games.

The championship was suspended in the middle of March 2020 after the coronavirus wave hit the country.

Racing Club founded in 2017 clinch the league title for the first time in history in only their second season in the top-flight.

The Abidjan based club won the Ligue 2 in the 2017/18 season gain promotion to the top division.

In 2018/19 season the team finished at the fourth place.

As champions, Racing Club will participate in the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League.

Second placed FC San Pedro will also compete in the CAF Confederation Cup for the third consecutive time.
