Ghana midfielder Rahim Ayew has undergone surgery to correct a knee injury and will be out for four weeks, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The SK Lierse utility player picked up the problem last month but complained of pains after the winter break.

"After the holidays, the doctors run checks on my knee and suggested that the best way for me was the operation," the first son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele told GHANAsoccernet.com

"I'm expected to return by the end of February so I'm praying and remaining strong."

Rahim began the current campaign with aplomb, churning out impressive performances before being hit with a series of injuries.
