Rahim Ayew unperturbed over AFCON snub

Versatile Ghana full-back Rahim Ayew is not fuming over his absence from the provisional 26-man squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 23-year-old Lierse SK player was overlooked by Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic despite making the grade to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup squads.

The former Eleven Wise playmaker suffered an injury in the opening weeks of the season but has recovered to make 10 appearances in 18 league games for Lierse so far.

But the first son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele suffered another injury set-back last week.

Rahim says he is not worried his name never came up for consideration.

"I played week in week out in Belgium. I only feel bad that I am not part of the team. You know I got injured for two to three months," he told Accra-based Pravda Radio.

"I got back and have played three good games. But I'm injured now but I hope to be back soon.

"Not being part of the squad, I am not really bothered."

Rahim's siblings Andre and Jordan have been named in the preliminary squad.
