Randy Abbey confirms Samuel Boadu is not in running for Ghana coach job

Published on: 14 September 2021

Member of the committee set up by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association to find a new Black Stars coach, Randy Abbey, has confirmed that Samuel Boadu is not part of the names they are considering for the top job.

The committee led by GFA vice President Mark Addo, have been tasked to find C.K AKonnor's replacement before Thursday.

Several names have popped up including the double winning coach, but Randy Abbey says the former Medeama gaffer's time is not now.

"His (Samuel Boadu) time will come," he said on Metro TV.

Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor was shown the exit following the country's poor start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Although the team won the game against Ethiopia here in Ghana, the performance was poor, leaving fans calling for the head of the coach.

The Black Stars then lost to South Africa in Johannesburg in the second game.

A new coach is expected to be announced by the end of Thursday or even sooner.
