Claudio Ranieri admits Sampdoria are happy with a point from the Derby della Lanterna with Genoa after ‘too many errors.’

Lorenzo Tonelli’s header managed to cancel out the Davide Zappacosta opener at Marassi.

“We made too many errors, we were frenetic in our passes and our approach, but a point in the derby is fine,” Ranieri told Sky Sport Italia.

“We started strong, then lost our way and were too hasty, which led to mistakes. These were two teams then who wanted to win, but also not run too many risks.

“It might not have been a scintillating derby, but I still believe a derby played without fans is just the most awful thing in football.”
