Ghana winger Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer was the standout performer as Hamburger SV secured a 2-1 victory over FC Köln in their German Bundesliga 2 clash on Friday evening at the RheinEnergieSTADION.
Königsdörffer played the full 90 minutes and made a significant impact by scoring both goals for Hamburger SV.
He opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a right-footed strike from close range that found the bottom right corner.
He doubled the lead in the 35th minute, once again finishing neatly with his right foot from the right side of the six-yard box.
Despite FC Köln dominating possession and creating several chances, Hamburger SV managed to maintain their lead.
FC Köln pulled one back in the 78th minute with a header from Linton Maina, who converted a cross from Dejan Ljubicic. However, it was not enough to overturn the deficit as Hamburger SV held on for the win.
The victory improves Hamburger SV's head-to-head record against FC Köln to 9 wins, 7 losses, and 4 draws.
Hamburger SV will next face Hertha BSC in their upcoming league fixture on August 10th.
