Rashid Sumaila to tie knot with long-time girlfriend Mariana Abdulai on August 12

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is set to marry his long time girlfriend Mariam Abdulai on Sunday August 12 at the Adisadel Zongo Mosque in Cape Coast.

The former Kotoko defender who is currently engaged with Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, will be undertaking the Islamic marriage rights of Niqa'a this month as he begins the journey of matrimony.

Due to the start of the Serbian topflight league, Sumaila will not be present for the ceremony but the Black Stars defender will be represented by immediate relatives and friend who will witness the marriage as permitted by Islamic law.

The 25 year old recently joined the Serbian giants on loan from Kuwaiti side Al Qadsia – a deal that could turn permanent if he impresses the Red and Whites.

Sumaila’s love life is different from many other footballers who are usually caught in controversial webs in choosing who to marry as he started his journey with Mariama.

His girlfriend Mariama, 22, a midwifery student, will soon be Mrs. Rashid Sumaila.

Red Star Belgrade have already congratulated the defender on the new chapter of his life, posting on Twitter to announce the ceremony.

The time for the ceremony is between 10:00am to 12:00 noon
